July 13th

Happy Birthday to Caela she is 19 today!

I woke at 4, got up for awhile but decided it was way to early to get up so I went back to bed until 6:30..it felt good sleeping in!

Yesterday my stomach was back to normal and I was hoping the homeopathic remedy was working...but today I was back to the same old thing... I had talked to the Dr because I was almost out of the drops and figured I could pick some up on my way through St Cloud.  He told me to wait until my follow up appt on the 19th...so frustrating.

I do not like being angry and frustrated so Prayed for a solution to the "tall grass issue"... compromise was the answer... so simple..I think we can come up with a solution that way...
Steve was going to pull the starter and we were going to go find John McKay on White Birch rd.. while he did that I went down to Ruxy's to exchange the paperbacks ..and ask if they knew which house John lived in...

I stopped at "the store" to see if I could get the 2012 LSD (Lake Superior Day) t-shirt which is tomorrow...they didn't have any...Judy was working and we talked about lawn mowing ...she finds it very relaxing and mows for hours... I told her I was going to do the  "compromise" approach to the tall grass instead of causing World War III... she said she would start the war to get her way...funny!!
I myself like a much more quiet approach to conflict...I think it is much better to respect your spouses opinions and make decisions that make you both happy...

When I got back Steve and I headed back to town to see John McKay.. when I was told he lived in the 2nd white house from Hwy 13.there were white house 2 in on each side of the rd.... now was that on the E or W side of the street..I picked the East side... wrong....looked across the street and there was an iron cut out sign with  "McKay" on the sign.... and 2 people mowing away on riders...McKay didn't repair mowers but fixed them up to sell... he did have some starters in the garage but none that worked for our mower ... he showed Steve a couple mowers he had for sale and Steve said he would buy from him when the time came for a different one...

So off we went to Iron River on the search for a lawn mower repair person.
I went to the grocery store and looked for signs on the bulletin board for someone...and Steve went to the TJs  hardware store across the street.....nothing on the boards...
It didn't take long and I saw Steve wheeling a cart in the aisles heading for his favorite purchase there Vino...$4 a bottle ... he saw me as he was coming up the cross aisle and banged into a ladies cart...I said "Hey Mr watch where you are going instead of checking out the ladies"...  he went off quickly ... wonder if I embarrassed him?  I thought I was funny!

From there we went to Ace Hardware...I found some Turnip seeds for a fall crop...50days to maturity ...that should work!
I was looking around and ready to check out and went up and down the aisles looking for Steve...couldn't find him anywhere...so checked out and sure enough he was already in the car waiting for me...GRRR is it so hard to tell a person you are done and will be in the car?

No luck on the lawn mower repair...but Steve though if he could charge up the battery he could get it started and we could mow...

We stopped on Cheese Factory Rd at the artisan well for water... they had tomato plant in raised beds and a large Strawberry jar with herbs planted looked so nice..that is a great idea...I think I will look for Strawberry jars in the summer closeout sales...

On the way home we passed a house and Steve said "did you see that place?  I like the style.....it was the same house I had noticed and liked ...so we have an agreement on the outside style  of our house..

We stopped at Patty and Carl's and it looked like Carl was home but wasn't around...Steve didn't look for a charger...so we went back to Mckay's ...he was gone...his wife said he was down by the Lake and could be gone 1/2 hr to 5hrs..so to check back later...

I knew Beth had a charger and she was coming  to hook up the trailer to the Pedestal after she finished another Electrical job...she doesn't have a cell phone and leaving a message for her on the land line probably wouldn't do any good....she would be coming straight to our place.

We  sat outside and I talked to Steve about mowing just a little more on each side of the driveway...he was in agreement but now to decide how much.....he went in to take a nap and I started reading my book....Beth arrived at 2...she wants to get Steve a Hammock for his birthday so we scouted around for a good spot...we found one behind the pedestal...close by the trail I use to go down the west ravine..I found another apple tree!! #18!!
We went inside and rousted Steve from his slumber... they started working ..Beth got the code to update my cell phone from Bonnie so I drove into town which is where I get service.during the day ..hopefully that will get me service at the land without climbing the ladder...which only works in the morning...
On the way I saw Carl in the garden so stopped and borrowed his charger..we talked about mowing and I told him if he could get it done sometime before the 11th of August...
He told me that if we could always borrow their mower if we needed too... such generous neighbors.

when I got back Beth was looking for her "snake" to pull the wire through the conduit and couldn't find it..."someone" had borrowed it and not put it back so she was going to go home and get it...I rode along.  We were on Flagg River Rd and a small cub was lumbering on the road... I was rushing to get my phone out of my pocket to get a picture but I wasn't fast enough.... darn...
She showed me her gardens ...everything looked so good... she had the sleigh runners that was part of the snow sleigh Dad had built for Tom when he was a baby...she had pots on it with herbs in . Though she never met her Grandpa Heie that connection is there!
the  Day Lillies they had transplanted from Ray's looked great...

We got back and she started snaking the wire in...she put tape on the end but it was too thick to go through...so she took it off and made a hook on the wire and it worked better..it still was hard work getting it through...I can't believe the strength she needs to muster up to do her job!
to be continued.....
