August 11th Happy Birthday Steve!
I was up early and got the coffee going for Steve and Vicki...I hope she likes flavored coffee...
At 7 I went in to see Laura at Ruxy's to see what baked goods she had made for today... all she had was raised doughnuts... I was hoping for her cinnamon rolls... so I went to "the store" to see what they had. Judy was working ...I ended up getting ..fixings for an egg bake, and an orange... I brought Cook's Ham Slice up to Judy to see what the price was..she had just looked at some in the back and they had expired ...she couldn't find the exp. date on this one so she told me to just take it ..open it and if it smelled okay great...if not toss it...
Vicki was up when I got back...I got her some coffee. she does like flavored coffee.... soon Len was up too...I started the eggs and then joined them outside... I ended up not using the ham...it smelled okay but I tasted it and it had a sour taste...I did keep it and will fry it up later for Steve to try...maybe it is okay but didn't want to chance it in my egg bake.
It was after 10 and we left for Corny Day...It is a beautiful sunny day...I wore the sundress I had bought in Jamaica 5 years ago which was the catalyst for me to lose some weight...I had to take it in too... it was fun wearing a sundress....
we got there and I had a message on my phone from Lynn... she was already there so I called her d told here we were there ...she had to go to the car and get her hat and would head down towards us..
The Flea market was huge this year...over 65 vendors... we met up with Lynn and continued on..Pat and Vonnie had been down there earlier and were back at the Village Inn...
Steve and Len came by and had beer in hand.
We made it up to the front and the food... This year I was going to wait in line and have Halvorson's Fish on a stick.. Vicki wasn't hungry and wanted to continue on with the flea market...Lynn decided a braut was what she wanted and switched lines...so it was me and Len hanging in there in line...the line was going pretty quickly...
A guy was selling raffle tickets to people in line...I bought 6.... when giving my last name and spelling it the lady in front of me turned around and commented that her last name is also a tough one for people too...we started visiting... she lives in Bloomington but grew up in Bayfield...on the Red Cliff Reservation...she was 71 .. but sure didn't look it... she said it was her Indian Blood... she said growing up she didn't even know she was on the reservation... it has really changed and too scary to even go there because of the drugs and alcohol.
She and her friend were getting both the Fish kabob and the Fish sandwich... no bun ...so Len and I decided that was the way to go...try them both.
I got the last kabob so Len had to wait for his...I went and joined Lynn in the Pavilion.. We saw Len just as he was sitting behind us ... It was very crowded in there... he finished before we did and left...
Soon we saw him with Vicki ... Len asked if I heard my name drawn ...I went up and got my prize...it was a lime green t-shirt from the Good Earth shop... it was a large...and I knew Steve would not wear it... so I will use it as a night shirt or beach cover up..
The raffle stand kept announcing that the parade was starting and to move out of the way... we kept waiting and waiting ..they kept announcing it and no one was getting out of the way,,,.finally we heard it ...it was coming people finally moved out of the way. I love their parade ...they were throwing candy and then someone was throwing ice pops...I was so thirsty... I wanted to grab one out of the little kids hands... I did refrain...and then a young girl next to me offered me one...what a sweetheart...it hit the spot! The parade lasted about 10 minutes...it was great!
Lynn and I walked to town to the VI to see Pat, Vonnie and Caela...Beth had stopped there to see them.....we were almost there and I gave Pat a call but they were at the beer tent back at the flea market...so we turned around and walked back..
