April 30, 2015

This whole process has been a real test to my patience ..we didn’t find out until late afternoon yesterday that RD had accepted the loan for the Lamas’s …so the closing set for 9 today was changed to 10 giving more time for the paper work to be finished.
The walk through was at 9:30…I got up at 5 and started getting the last minute packing and cleaning done..Steve got up soon after and started packing the car and van… bringing things that weren’t needed over to Gary’s or to the storage locker…he kept wanting to take the vacumn to Gary’s… that was the last thing I needed.
I got the sheets washed and had intended to get the back on the bed for them…but just ran out of time…we did get the mattress turned…I was so glad they wanted the bed …we didn’t have room for it in our new place…the sleigh bed frame would have been easy enough to sell….but the hassle of getting rid of the mattress….
I had Steve return Len and Vicki’s cooler thinking they would need it before we could get it back to them…and was sure I could fit everything into the 2 we had…but as I emptied the refrigerator freezer I was having doubts… I used some smaller freezer bags I had from Trader Joe’s and put some refrigerator items in…I got the upright freezer pretty much emptied but still was a tight fit in the smaller cooler…
I got the kitchen floor washed and was heading down to do the lower level entrance and I saw a car in the driveway…it was the Lamas.. I went out and invited them in… she was so excited they thought the should wait for Mark their realtor,  but I invited them in… she cried when she saw the bed …she loved it and was so grateful…with adopting their 4 grandchildren they were really in need of beds…and so loved the sleigh bed… I apologized for not getting the bed made…she said I didn’t need to worry she was going to have lots of help and they would get it done…with the cleaning too…she said I wouldn’t have had to do any of that…but my house was always so clean…and well cared for…
Mark got there and he was as sweet as ever…such a nice young man….. he reminds me of the guy on Channel 11, Brian Piatt…

She told me a little about her son who’s children they have…she said it was the hardest thing to do was turning her son and his girlfriend in for drugs and child neglect… the youngest boy who is 6 has abandonment  disorder…they had him at Mayo being evaluated… he was violent with teachers and with them…he is on meds and doing lots better…prayers for both of them for taking on the raising of 4 children at age 60!

The closing was changed again to 2pm but our closer offered us the option to close at 10…so we of course wanted to get on the road so thought that was a great plan.
Everything went well…but of course there was an addition fees for us on our side… Steve was a bit miffed.. the closer explained it fine but Steve told her the fact there would be extra fees was never told to us…so maybe it would be a good thing to inform the sellers of it… well it is what it is…
We gave Linda power of attorney to deposit our check for us and sign for any other changes that might happen at the buyers closing.
We finished packing the cars…Steve told me I could take off first… so I did… we would take our normal route and meet in Foley…as I was driving I heard a beaping in the back.. debated on stopping to see what it was..sounded like something losing power …it wasn’t my phone…whatever it is can’t be that important…so I let it be and it finally stopped.
Smooth sailing to Foley…I parked at Casey’s…and gave Steve a call… I didn’t see him behind me so I wasn’t sure how long after I left that he did… but as I hung up he pulled in.
We got snacks…he asked where I wanted to eat…and I told him that bar not far off of 35 on 23 …he didn’t know what I was talking about…I mention it every time we have gone by it…so he followed me and I was hoping I would have enough warning to turn in there and I did…it was in Askov and called Ringers… big place… they had a softball field in back and a large horseshoe tournament area…I bet there were 6 …looked like it was a hopping place in the summer!
I had a burger…it was great…ate ½ and saved the rest for tonight… they had a nice large area to let Murphy out…
Steve didn’t look good…I asked if he was feeling okay…he said okay enough… I was worried about him…
As we pulled in there I got the message from Linda that the closing was finished!!  WOW…
We got to Port Wing at 6… at least this time Steve didn’t bring everything in for me…
The I couldn’t fit everything in the freezer… I will be making some soup and hamburgers… the turkey fit… I may give that to Beth to keep for us in her freezer…I have to make a pie tomorrow too..
I was pretty tired… went to bed at 8:30…
We are finally home for good on White Birch Rd…that is E White Birch Rd…
