Mail Box is in!

Mail Box up

Monday morning and the sun is out and it is going to be a glorious day!    Our plans for the day are to go to Iron River to pick up our mail, get the posts for the mail box and get a library card.
Our first stop was the Post office… Steve told the post master that the box would be up by tomorrow or the next day… and we would call to let her know.
We stopped at the Library and it doesn’t open until noon on Mondays…so I suggested breakfast would be a good way to kill time…it was 10am…
We went to the Rustic Roost…nice place and they have good food… unfortunately it came very quickly…don’t  say that very often!
Got a text from Beth she was working in Orienta and was in the basement putting in circuts into the breakers…so could not enjoy the beautiful day…
We finished there and went and got the posts at the lumber yard… then to the thrift shop…I am looking for a coffee grinder… no luck there… we then went across the street to check out insurance with Glen Miller…I let Murphy out before we went in… Glen wasn’t there …his Dad was manning the office while he was in EauClaire at meetings all  week.  He was the shortest man … maybe about my mom’s height… sure was a cute little old guy…in his 80’s… we told him we would be back next week to talk to Glen and who we were …we had been in there before…just said we were Elizabeth the Electrician’s parents…easiest way to explain who we were.
We stopped at the bank and checked on what they had to offer… and then sat outside the Library ..only 10 minutes to noon… while I was in side using logging in the the internet and getting my card…Steve went to the grocery store and got his wine for the week.
We left town around 1:30pm and stopped at Jim’s meats to replace the # of bacon Patty had given us last summer… she bragged it was the best ever and  wanted us to try it..Beth had said their steaks were super good too…I got the bacon $4.99 /lb   and we left for home.
We went through Port Wing…just checking mailboxes… Patty and Carl were outside by their garden so we stopped and I tossed it over the ditch to her…she forgot all about it.
We got home and I had lunch…Steve got busy with the Mail box.
I started reading the book I got at the Library… got into the Wicked series from Nancy Bush and Lisa Jackson… started with the last and going backwards…it is less scary that way since I know who died and who made it…
I looked out and Steve was heading down the driveway to put the box up… I walked down there to watch …and I actually was of some help to him… While Steve measured the height of the box I held the level…
He was really having a good workout with that post hole digger…I offered to take a turn but he declined…

I probably wouldn’t have gotten very far with it.
Being out there was really a great way to meet the neighbors… 3 different ones stopped and introduced themselves and welcomed us to the neighborhood..
Touve Hill is getting green…so pretty …I wish it would work out to have the view of it from the house…but it is more important to be back by the ravines…

He was almost finished with the box so I walked back home… I noticed the wild strawberries were in bloom…I think it is going to be a good year for them!

My knee was still bothering me from the hill run I did Saturday… so I put some heat on it… darn it’s a B….. to get old!
Steve finished up and settled in the lawn chair with a glass of wine…I had tea… such a beautiful day… no wind…perfect.
As soon as the sun starts to go down though it gets cold fast…
I went in and dished up some left overs for supper…I fixed the last of the fresh green beans I had gotten … had a hamburger and hot dog…mic’d a potato …
I had emptied a shelf and we thought about what could go there… we still have things packed in the car… yikes where will it all fit?

After steve went to bed I watched  “lean on  me”  one of the movies we got from Joyce… that 13” VCR/TV  is sure coming in handy!
