August 9th
The stereo system I had gotten at a garage sale 2 yrs ago worked great but then last summer
the cd player broke…which wouldn’t have been that big of a deal but the tray
wouldn’t stay closed..it was very annoying to me. I had to practically stand on my head to see the radio station #'s.. or keep slamming it shut...Steve got a gift card from work for Walmart so I purchased a small more compact cd/radio.
It only had 2 places for speakers but I did attach the bigger ones from the old system and it didn't have a place to attach the outside antenna, just the small one it came with. It took awhile to get the radio stations in and I don't get as many but I finally got the Bob and Tom show in, and my new favorite out of Duluth that plays oldies!

We were expecting Gary and
Delores late morning. It will be so
great spending some quality time with these old friends.
I went and got the wild life
Cam. Beth said it wasn’t taking pictures. I was going to see if I screwed it up by
changing the settings. I messed around
with it and nothing seemed to help. When we went to Iron River I would stop by the Library and go online to the website to see if I could figure it
out there.
Around 11 Beth came riding up
on her Honda! Cute little motorbike. It
was built in the early 80’s .. she got it from a job she was working on .. she
got 2..they had been left by a relative of the guy and he wanted them out of
there. He wasn’t sure they would even
run but she and Rocky took a chance. Rocky got them both working.
It looked like so much fun I decided to give it a spin.
Beth gave me a instructions, sounded easy enough.
I climbed on and lifted my right leg to kick start it and it tipped over on me!
I wasn't hurt badly, just a scrape on my ankle..I went in and got my yarrow spray to stop the bleeding and Beth found some Plantain for me. I chewed on it and slapped it on with a band aide. Feeling a bit foolish about the whole thing!

I decided Beth and I needed to go to
Iron River for some supplies so I asked Steve if he minded staying home and
waiting for Gary and Delores. He agreed, he had brought along a good supply of
wine so he was set for the weekend.
We headed to the Library 1st
to get on the Internet and across the street at the Laundromat was Rocky, doing
their Laundry! Good man! In the back of his truck sat Millie patiently
waiting! Beth looked inside the cab for
Kiddy, Rocky was bringing her to the Vet.. she is in her last days…not eating
or drinking. They have been giving her
water with a syringe… poor kitty..Rocky got kiddy as a kitten when he was 16..
she has been with him through thick and thin. So very sad when time to say goodbye comes.
Kiddy wasn’t there. We both thought the worse..We went in and talked to Rocky. He couldn’t get into the Vet until late
afternoon and I think he realized there really wasn’t anything they could do
but tests, and maybe he wasn’t ready for the decision to put her down. I pray she will go peacefully on her own.
We went to the Library and
there really wasn’t any help on their website for the wildlife cam…but Beth noticed an 800 # for questions. So she took me to the top of the hill by the
school where I could get service. We
called, a young man named Brian asked some questions and came to the conclusion
that we needed to attach it to the computer with the usb cord and if no pictures
appeared there..the camera needed to be sent in for repair… oh good… just got it in June! I may just take it back to Runnings and get
another one.
We stopped at the grocery
store ..then to Hardware Hanks to see if they by chance had any bean bags for
my game Rocky made me. No luck..but
one guy suggested using socks! that would work in a pinch.
We went to the thrift store
and right off Beth found a stripped heavy cotton shirt…teal and purple. We figured we could make
the bags out of the 2 colors and bought it just $1.65. Back to the grocery store to buy beans. We got pinto beans!
When we got back Gary and
Delores still weren’t there.
I looked for my little sewing
kit …of course I couldn’t find it…what is with that??
Beth had to gas up her Honda
so would check at ‘The Store” for a needles and thread.. they have
everything there…
On her way back she saw a truck with a camper stopped on the side of the road, it was Gary and Delores..they were checking for our
address.. so she stopped and said " follow me"!
It was so good to see
them! The decision was made for Beth to
put in the 30amp plug in the pedestal so she got busy doing that.. it didn’t go as fast because of the nest
of ground bees right where she was working. Steve had some spray ..it didn’t
work that fast… but she was careful.
Delores helped me measure out
the shirt for the bean bags. The Store
didn’t have thread or needles..but Delores had 3 needles and 2 bobbins of
thread! We got busy sewing them. Steve took Gary over to show him the birch he
had to take down and all of a sudden a big BLAST.. he also decided to show him
his gun…no warning to any of us…Steve is usually so thoughtful and careful…I
got a bit upset with him, especially with Beth working at the pedestal with the
live wires there… I think he is regressing to his teenage yrs with Gary here.
…when Beth finished she joined
us. We all got 2 finished! The purple was dominate but on a couple we
decided we would just mark the green ones.
I went in and heated up the
beef bbq… and took out the pasta salad.
Delores had brought some nummy cucumber pickles. Steve and Gary had made
a trip to the store and everyone had been snacking on some smoked fish.
Beth left before dark…she
looks so cute on that little (heavy)bike.. she must be really strong to hold it
up to start it!
I went in to clean up
…Delores joined me. The kitchen is so
small but we got it done! There really
wasn’t much to do, but it doesn’t take much to clutter the kitchen up!
We went out and the guys had
a fire started. I picked up more dried
evergreen branches on the pile. I was
standing there and Steve came up and threw some lighter fluid on it.. oh good
grief,what is wrong with him!!
Teenager!!!
Another lecture from MOM! I hope
he reverts back to his correct age
tomorrow!
We had a great time around
the fire.. bright star lite night.. it was just great!
Got to bed at 10:30… I was
tired!
