August 11

Up at 6 I got my tea ready and went outside. I got  the fire started and wrote my blog.  It was such a beautiful morning to be sitting by the fire cool enough I needed a sweatshirt.

the clouds moved in and it started sprinkling so I was forced inside.

Everyone was still sleeping and the sun had come out so I decided to get my run in..I was curious to see if there were any hidden injuries from my attempted motorcycle ride!

Murphy and I headed out and I was feeling good… what a beautiful morning.  Went towards the cranberry to the first hill, and then turned and went to the hill right before the ball field… it was almost 2 miles.

As I entered the driveway I saw that  everyone  was up and sitting by the fire.  I brought out my coffee pot for refills and when that emptied Delores brought out hers.  Low and behold she had a peculator too, another gal holding on to the great coffee makers!

Beth arrived with the Van and said that Kiddy was perking up.  Yesterday while they were here she had enough energy and strength to jump into Rocky’s truck and she perked up when she heard them open the bag to feed Millie.  They are hoping she has made a turn around and would make it.  I sure hope so.  Rocky got her as a kitten when he was 16 and she has been with him through thick and thin..

I said I better get the water on for Steve’s Perfect Omelets and wondered if we could figure out how to attach it to Al’s tripod over the fire… no one came up with a good idea but Delores said they had their camp stove along and we could use that which would make it really convenient and wonderful  to make all the fixings  there in the beautiful  outdoors!

Beth and I came in and grabbed the fixings and large water pot.. Delores got the stove and brought out some things also she thought would be great to put into omelets!

I forgot to rinse out the pot, it is a small canner, and when I looked down I saw a little debris floating around.  Water being at a premium I didn't want to dump it out and refill it.  Oh well, our eggs will be in freezer bags anyway.

We got them going… it is so fun.. Danny had never had them and thought it was a great idea!
Steve grabbed the toast and the new campfire basket and said he was making toast..Beth and I groaned ...memories of the toast he made when went camping at the Sibley County Park.. Beth, Tony and Steph had to choke it down.
this toast turned out really good...so maybe the memory will become a distant one!

Someone opened up the pot to check their bag and we heard a pop.. it turned out it was my bag… the omelet looked in tack so I just
dumped out the water… it was the best perfect omelet I had ever made!
Later  I remembered the dirty water it was boiling in..I got a little queasy, just for a minute.... it did taste great... it was boiled water so no harm done!
Everyone enjoyed theirs too.. nothing better than cooking outside and then sitting out there and eating.

We decided to pile into Gary’s truck to go down to Quarry Beach.   Steve said we could take the Van but I had already put the seat back down and put everything back into the back…  I guess he missed that whole thing even though he was sitting right there!

We all fit perfectly in his truck.  The place was packed.  We found a place to park and Steve insisted on bringing Murphy and I did tell him he had to hang on to him… I hate dealing with the other dogs unleashed that come up and annoy him…but there weren’t any other dogs today.

He and Steve jumped in the water and we girls started picking up drift wood to make mobiles like Beth’s.  I forgot my camera and Delores dropped hers on the way in …she said Gary rushed her because people were behind them.

A big chocolate lab came by and I hollered Hi Rex…and sure enough Katy, Patty’s daughter was following close behind…she said “guess who? “The one who doesn’t follow the rules on leashing your dog!”  But Rex is such a good dog and listens well, they went further down the beach to swim.

On the way home we stopped at The Store so Gary could pick up some smoked fish to bring home.

When we got back they packed up and headed for home, in spite of Steve’s insistence on them staying another night.  It was so good seeing them and being able to spend quality time with them.  I sure hope they will come back again!

I put out my drift wood and Beth helped me make a mobile..she took out her drill and fish line..she drilled the holes and I strung them. It was fun… didn’t turn out as cool as hers but still was nice.

B left for home.. I think she should name her scooter “orange crush”…I’ll have to mention that to her.

I decided it would be nice to take Danny to The Port for Pizza… it didn’t take much persuation… I drove and went the back way … we were the only one’s in the dining room…had the works or whatever it is called…so great…nice thin crust…lots of cheese!

Of course when we got home Steve was ready for bed …I brought out the Chicken foot Domino game I got at the unclaimed freight and Dan and I played.. it is a fun game!

Perfect end to a great  day!  I think Steve had another Happy Corny weekend  Birthday!
