June 7th

It was 58 inside at 4:30a ..I'm just not tired so I got up..got my Chaga Tea warmed up for my morning cup and started Journaling.

I put on the fireplace heater to get the chill out.

Beth is coming at 7am ..we are going to run the 5k route she is doing next weekend  "The Sack Slapper 5K" which coincides with the Testicle Festival in Port Wing.

Beth arrived and we headed for the Port Bar where the race starts... It is a beautiful course..we ran up hwy 13 to Lakeside which tree lined  I kept thinking a bear would come out and join us but didn't see any... then down to the Pier.  Beth pointed out Smokey's house, a light blue with white trim right on the lake. It was so beautiful. Smokey IS "Everette's Fishery".. she pointed out his fishing boat ...sure would be fun to go out with him sometime...we ran around the circle and back to lakeside to Washington, the Main drag of PW,..as we got closer to Hwy 13 I thought I saw Beth's car in view , I  told her " this is where you pick up your pace"... so we did...and then she turned on School rd ..huh??  we had about a mile left.. OOPS.. Beth thought it was funny I was starting to pick up my pace early..... I slowed down again... when we did get to the end Beth sprinted to the finish...I didn't!
She was a trooper and ran my pace but I know she will do it in much faster pace ...

We then went to Ruxy's for Breakfast... I was sweating like a "pig"... I went and got a wet towel and cooled down... people in there probably thought I was having a heart attack!
Laurie, the owner, came out of the kitchen and asked me if we were up for the summer, wouldn't that be nice, but no...just for a long weekend.
Laurie has a shelf full of paperbacks for people to read...bring them back or not, she doesn't care... I went and picked a couple ...I always look for the well worn ones...pretty good bet they are good reads.
we were finished eating and Steve showed up ... he just wanted a cup of Coffee so on our way home he stopped ath "the store" for one.
Beth had to be to work at 10:30..after she left Steve started mowing..I finished the doll blankets for Lynn's 2 granddaughters, Olive and Evie..perfect timing with the new baby, Violet, who was born on the 5th....the 2 big sisters can have blankets to wrap their babies up in like Mommy does.   I really made mistakes in those blankets but the little ones won't notice.  Now to get something made for Violet and get them in the mail.

Steve was ready for me to start mowing...he had done the parameter..the sun was out and I had on a tank, the sun felt good....mowing went good..I do get nervous when there is an incline, Steve was watching me and smiling...I know I wouldn't really tip but can't get over that fear....he  stood over a hole so I could maneuver around it...as I  mowed Steve worked on the trench.

When I was finished I went on another hunt for Yarrow, Plantain and Bergamot... found some yarrow... really surprised I didn't see any Plantain.

I went in and ate lunch... Steve was sleeping in the recliner ...tired from all the sun and fresh air I went and laid down on the  bed for a nap..so peaceful here!!

When I woke up I decided to do some spinning...I brought the wheel outside and sat in the shade...it wasn't long and Beth came around the corner...I didn't even hear her pull up..

Steve decided he needed to go to Iron River on a "vino run".. I sent along the water jugs for him to stop at the Artesian well on Cheese Factory Rd.

It was so nice just sitting outside visiting with my girl...it didn't seem that long and Steve was already back..

Before Beth left we transferred all the electrical supplies that Pat and Vonnie had sent along for her.. since they are going to sell the lake property they didn't need all the wires and supplies. .she was just thrilled!!  Who would ever think electrical wires and outlets, would be that exciting!!

I started frying chicken  I had taken the skin off and dredged it in Rice flour for supper.   I didn't have a cover for the cast iron fry pan but the large stainless steel fry pan it worked perfectly!
Steve continued digging the trench until supper was ready.

It cooled off nicely so another perfect night for sleeping!
