June 8th
I woke up at 5:30a it was so light outside I was sure it was later.
I heated up my Chaga tea ..Connie loaned me Dr Ingram's book 'The cure is in the forest"..wow! Chaga is amazing!
. I could hear thunder and about 6:15 the down pour started. It rained on and of for about an hour.
Steve decided to go to Iron River with me..I had read in the paper last week that there was a city wide garage sale today.. we got to town and there were no signs for garage sales ..hmmm... must have made a mistake on the date... we went to the Library and I checked my e-mails and FB.. they have a very nice Library in Iron River. Steve came in and looked around and then went outside and waited for me... he was people watching...there was a young couple sitting on the bench outside the Library...he said they walked over and crossing the street they stopped right in the middle and continued their conversation...totally oblivious of their surroundings...he found that really amusing!
The thrift shop didn't open until 10 so we stopped at the grocery store...it was freezing in there. We just picked up the essentials...no browsing...I would need a "parka" to do that!
We decided to skip the thrift store and just go home and heading out of town we saw a "garage sale" sign... so we turned around and found our way to it.. ..I didn't find anything but Steve picked up "the Joy of cooking" cookbook for $2... he feels every kitchen should have that cookbook.
When we got home I started a James Patterson book that a friend had loaned me... after reading a few pages I realized I had already read it... so I started one I had picked up at Ruxy's.
I needed to pick up so ground beef and Pork Chops at "the store" . Judy was working so visited with her for awhile... I love small towns and already feel a part of Port Wing.
Steve was working on the trench and I went in and read ...It was so relaxing with a nice cool breeze it wasn't long and I needed to lay down on the bed for a nice nap...when I woke Steve was sleeping in the recliner.
Murphy and I went out for a walk to the east side of the property...no yarrow...I had found some in Patty's ditch but just a little...
then we came back and walked the west ravine.. it was beautiful with the sunlight streaming through the tall trees...I didn't make it all the way down to the creek but Murphy did. I did collect some healthy looking Horsetail.
We had brought some checks and old tax papers along to burn..seemed silly to haul it up there but there was too much to burn in our outside fireplace and we had the room in the car... it was a little windy but the ground was damp ..I had picked up a nice walking stick in the ravine and it worked perfect for poking around fire... the wind gusts got pretty strong so I thought it best to finish burning later..
Steve mentioned going down to the Lake so we decided on Quarry beach..
No one else was there...Murphy loved the water he didn't seem to mind that it was cold.
I have such wonderful memories when Margi visited us and we did Yoga on the beach there ....
can't wait for her to come back and we can do it again!
We drove down to the Pier and then home via Flag River Road...there was a red 4 wheeler and it looked like it was Carl our neighbor... .we weren't home long and here he came up the driveway with Rex.. Rex didn't get out of the 4 wheeler... I did have Murphy on a leash to control his bad behavior but Rex did not care to participate in my behavior training .
Carl is home until 2 AM Monday morning..we had a nice visit...he is willing to cut our field but Steve and I disagree when it should be done... Carl would like to cut it twice a yr and I would like that too, but Steve thinks that would get rid of the wild flowers and in the fall is the best time... I will do some reading on it...
After Carl left Steve went back to digging and I sat in the shade and read...
I asked him if he wanted burgers for supper...he said he didn't care...I don't know why I ask him he gives me the same answer everytime, he isn't fuzzy and will eat anything I fix...but then he did say to maybe wait and have them Sat. night.
We had left over Chicken but decided the Pork Chops would be good..so I started the grill..cut up potatoes, carrots, and turnups in foil with Olive Oil and seasoning to put on there.
We sat outside and ate ...I found a radio station that played "oldies" and actually talked about the year the song came out and the artist... we listened for awhile but then I shut it off and we just listened to the sounds around us... It is so peaceful and beautiful here.
I had a little bit left of the yarrow Tincture I had made last year and I put it on my sunburn...it helped ...I need to make more!!
