Eliminating preservatives!

I am on a mission to stop eating processed foods using more than 4 ingredients.... I never realized how very hard this would be...so my only resource is to make things from scratch.

I am changing gears on this blog to being one for me to share my journey now to using less processed foods.....with so many people suffering from IBS, inflammatory and heart disease, Diabetes, high BP and Cholesterol...  the childhood obesity, and health problems in children today is so scarry...when I read that the life span on the next generation is less than ours was a wake up call and  the fact  is our convenience foods that we all embraced as the greatest invention not realizing the damage it was doing... and we think that the FDA is protecting us ... money talks and the Lobbyists  rule!

I don't mean to rant on the gov't but want to help as many people as I can to be aware of what they are
eating.  Each time I find a recipe that is for a product I was used to buy and refuse to buy now because of the preservatives i want to share it...not everyone i know is as excited as me and I get called "the pioneer woman" or "hippy"... they act like I am so strange to take the time to make something from scratch instead of just buying it.... if they only realized that I actually am saving money and getting a tastier product!!
whole wheat tortillas, whole wheat crackers ( they taste even better than wheat thins with only 3 ingredients!)  Gelatin with 2 ingredients and faster than "jello brand".and again no preservatives!! ....

I will start with the whole wheat Saltines

1 C whole wheat flour
2 T melted butter
1/2 tsp salt
6-7 T water
plus more butter and salt to put on top

mix whole wheat flour and salt in a bowl... add melted butter and mix until crumbly
add water a little at a time... you don't want the dough to be sticky.
roll out and cut with a pizza cutter put on a greased cookie sheet
brush with melted butter and lightly salt
 y
baked at 350 degrees for 20 minutes...
So very tasty and so easy!  hope you give them a try...
