March 7th
The sun was out and it looks like a good day to travel.
We got all packed and left Hutch by 9:15am.
We had Beth's share of beef in the cooler,so all our cold things were in a box...refrigerator temps outside so that was perfect.
We stopped in Foley..someone had the audacity to park in "our" spot...so Murphy did not have as big an area to run in...but I threw his raccoon toy around for him ...though I sure couldn't get much distance on it!
We skipped the unclaimed freight this time and went on to Hinckley to Cassidy's...Diane, our favorite waitress still wasn't there... that was the 3rd month in a row ..sIhad to ask the waitress about her..found out she had surgery on Dec 5th and would be out for 6 mos..I told her to greet her for us...trying to give clues to which of her customers we were... she always remembered we were heading to WI so that should do it.
After I ate I went and let Murphy out... it was pretty deep in the area he usually runs..I had left my boots in the car so I was glad he didn't do a "big job" that would have caused me to go in the snow and pick it up.
We decided to take 23 instead of staying on the freeway... we just got on 23 and Steve said I looked pretty alert and asked if I wanted to drive for awhile... so I took over ..the road were clean and hardly any traffic...what a peaceful scenic drive!
Beth was working again on the cabin on Hwy 13..so this time she gave me the fire # ... we stopped and Rocky was there too.. she was working on the water heater so she needed some muscle! Of course Millie was along too.
It was a great cabin right on the lake....had a beautiful stone fireplace... she she showed me the new service panel she had put in.
The last time she worked there a squirrel startled her by running across her body!! She said she scolded it and told it not to come back! This is the same place she found the mummified cat in the basement.
We stopped at the Store and Beth and Rocky pulled up and we gave them the cooler. I told them I had made chili using the Heart and they should come for supper..Rocky requested that I never serve him tongue without telling him first what he is eating... I promised I wouldn't...that was one part of the animal he didn't think he wanted to try...
We got to our driveway and it looked pretty daunting!
Steve too a flying start to get over the snowplow ledge ...but we got stuck..he tried rocking and didn't get far... so he did some shoveling and got it back out.. we took turns shoveling it and we tried again and made it up the driveway...the bottom of the car was dragging all the way!
The trailer was 50 degrees inside...I got things put away and it seems I forgot to pack things from the crisper in the fridge... I think the box I used instead of the cooler through me off!
I strapped on the snowshoes to take some pictures of the sun shining on the W ravine...but by the time I got out there the Sun was in a different position.....

Beth made it up the driveway..she had new snow tires on her car... she thought she would turn the car around so the front end was facing downhill..just like her Dad told her...which our car now was stuck because the front was uphill...to Steve's defense the slushy snow slid him there...I did have to give him a bad time...because if it was me that did it I would have gotten a lecture..."what have I always told you?"...I tuck this away for further defense ...
She brought her "Cook's" magazine ..she had tried the "steamed Cheeseburgers" and said they were great.. I can't wait to try it!
Rocky stayed home to work on his telescope...getting the mirrors adjusted right.
I heated some chili for her, Steve and I weren't that hungry...I packed some up for Rocky.. She thought it was good...the heart meat was very tender and tasted like a nice cut of beef...
I had the heating pad warming the bed...Murphy was anxious to go to bed...so I let him jump up and get cozy...
When we crawled in I asked Steve if we needed the old sleeping bag on top...I had forgotten to take it out... we decide we should so we all had to get up so I could get it out from the compartment underneath the bed... I got it out and put on ..Murphy got re -situated ..and we crawled back in... it was perfect! I said to Steve that it brought back memories of my childhood and the layers of heavy quilts on my bed...he said him too and the great feather mattress he had.
