February 8th
20 degrees outside...it was supposed to get down to single digits so that is super! I knew it wasn't that cold out..because the trailer was 60 inside.
I was up at 6..Steve and Murphy were up close to 7.. I started knitting Darrin's hat..decided on a ski mask..I had made this pattern a couple times one for myself using left over yarn I had spun... even had some angora in it..it was a perfect barn hat..somehow it got lost when we move to town..I will have to make myself another one for White Birch Rd.
Beth arrived around 9 and we went to Ruxy's for breakfast..the new mgr/ waitress is not very "warm"..she must be the type personality that things must be in order...she starts taking our order and it is the person she is looking at that must go first..she doesn't pay attention, if you start saying your instructions she just goes ahead and asks...how do you want the eggs done, what meat, etc... I found it a bit rude.
Beth brought the x-country skis with ...even Rocky's for Steve.. he said he would just watch us..Rocky had gotten Beth new ones for Christmas last year...so I will use the ones I got her from a garage sale.. they were pretty worn on the bottom so they didn't go as smoothly as hers...but that was okay...I hadn't skied since I wracked my knee in the toboggan accident yrs ago...
We got the ski's on and started out.
Murphy was pretty tired...I think it was more than he bargained for! He had so many snow tags dragging him down!! But what a loyal dog!
We got back and Steve was sleeping.. Beth and I played Rubiscub..Beth beat me bad!
I thought we should go to Iron River and check out the thrift shops but Beth needed to get home and do some work around there. Steve was going on a wine run anyway so I tagged along..he said he'd suffer through the junk stores if he had too, but that just takes the fun out of it for me.
It was a beautiful sunny winter day, a perfect day for a drive.
As we were checking out at the grocery store Bonnie was ahead of us! She had been to the dentist..it was great seeing her and visiting a bit.
On the way home Steve decided to take the Port Wing Line Rd..he got a few yards in and it hadn't been plowed..so instead of turning around and going back to Hwy A.. he kept going...there were some car tracks to follow... and luckily we didn't meet any cars...I was so relieved when we got to the end and safely on Morrison Ave.

We went across to our neighbors hay field..there were a few little inclines but fun ones. It was great exercise... we got over to the other side and to a ravine over there...must be connected to the Flagg River..

We stopped at Patty and Carl's but no one was home...they have told us to just go inside and get water even if they aren't home ..but we just don't feel right doing that...so we will go back later.
I was hungry so warmed up the hot dish I had brought...it was so good.. the recipe I had gotten from Pam Bell and it is a good one ...it is even better each warm up!
Steve was shoveling off the roof...not too much really on it.
I did some knitting...we will decide tomorrow if we go to Duluth or directly home... It looks like if the forecast is correct we wouldn't get home until Tuesday.
I want to trim a few more apple trees...we will see what we get done.
