October 20th

The sun was out and the sky was clear when we left Hutchinson at 8:25am.  There was quite a bit of traffic but thinned out once we got to St Cloud and was clear sailing the all the way to Port Wing.
We made our usual stops at Casey's in Foley...and Cassidy's in Hinckley.

Arrived in Port Wing at 2PM.. we had set traps and plugged holes with steel wool and I put bounce sheets all over the place ...I was still leary about what I would find when we entered the trailer.... but all we found were a ton of flys!  I spent allot of time sweeping them up... you know flys the sun shines and they get revived so it was an endless job!

Steve had me turn on the gas so that when I come up with gal friends I will be comfortable doing it.
Hooking up the electricity just involves dragging out the 100ft extension cord and plugging it in... that I can handle.

Murphy and  I set out looking for apples. The tree that had the single yellow apple that Beth and I tasted last yr when we looked at the land was full- the man I met selling apples at the farmers market said that it sounded like a "Honey Gold" variety...which he was selling..they did look the same!   They tasted great!!

The tree on the east side of driveway was a little tart I think it will be perfect for pies!
Last time we were here and I picked apples I only found 15 trees and was sure that I had counted 17 .. this time I found 2 trees behind the shed that I hadn't counted ... they were smaller apples so believe them to be wild ones...they were good too...of course!!!!

Beth had called before we left and said they were packing allot of fish so probably wouldn't stop tonight..she would be tired!

We had purchased an electric fireplace space heater ..we got it plugged in and it was nice ...really was toasty and the fake flames were quite real looking.

Steve had gone down to The Store to pick up a paper and when he got back he told me to walk down the driveway and look at the setting sun on Touve Hill..I brought my camera and it was breath taking!!  There were some Daisies still blooming along the driveway.
