we headed to Cornucopia to visit the Coffee Shop and stop and see Beth wiring a new shop..I am so happy that coffee shops have varieties of teas for us non coffee drinkers, Siskiwit Bay had an Oolong Blend it was great...Beth had told us Vic was there so I scoped out the people looking for someone who looked 89...the closest was a gray haired gentleman sitting alone...so I went over and asked and sure enough it was him... he didn't look a day over 75... he was a retired Bush pilot from Alaska..he and his wife moved to Corny in the 80's & built a log home...his wife passed away a few yrs ago...he rides his bicycle often to Herbster for lunch...a mere 8 miles one way... he was so interesting to talk to...he said he was going to plant a cherry tree he just bought that day..it won't bare fruit fo 6 yrs... he smiled and said ' I turn 90 in March do you think I'll be around that long to get any?"... he invited us to stop by any time to visit...can't wait to hear more of his stories...He still flies He has an landing strip on his land... he took Rocky up in his plane..I saw pictures it looked like a tin can... wonderful man!!
