Memorial Weekend.. Thursday May 26th
we left home at 9:300am.. just 1/2 hr behind schedule- made it to Cassidy's in Hinckley at noon.. not as crowded as the last time ...forgot a leash for murphy .. (left the good leash in PW) used my phone cord adapter to get him to the grassy area and let him go...he listens so well ..he heeled on the way back to the car. we went in and ate... Steve loves the food there ...a man who only eats until he is full...went back for 3rds...
A couple miles into Wisconsin he asked me if I would mind driving ...he was falling asleep...I took over the wheel and he conked out before I had it in "D"... not much traffic at all ...great to leave the Thursday before a Holiday.
Beth called and said Rocky wasn't going to Iron River so we should stop and pick up the Pedestal & grd rods and wire.. we got to White Birch at 3:15...quickly unloaded the car and headed to Iron river. The Pedestal was dropped off at Hardware Hanks.. It was heavy and long..hung out of the trunk about a ft. we bought some bungy cords to tie it down...it took awhile for us to find a place to attach it to the car... but good teamwork on our part ..we got it secured. I also bought a little flag for the camper ..
we were heading to the Fishery to get water for the camper...and met Beth at the stop sign...she was coming to our place...she turned around and helped us get the water...she brought us a box of smoked fish...not my favorite .but the brown sugar cured is and there was some of that...we dived into it right away...it was good...
I was anxious to get out and check the Raspberry root I had planted and see if the Pumpkin seeds had come up... Beth was tired so she went home... Steve was tired too but not Murphy he was raring to go... I put on boots and socks, tucked my pant legs into the socks to keep the ticks away...The apple trees were blossoming and there were tons of wild Strawberries blooming... what a Treasure our land is!! It took me awhile to find the pumpkin hills...a few in each had sprouted... then I went to find the Raspberry bush and Steve had decided to come out too...I found it but it was just the stick I had planted... hadn't done anything...It is a june-sept baring bush so maybe just slow at first...we looked over the spot for the Pedestal ..
went in and started the pilot light on the oven but couldn't get the burner to light...so I heated up the left over pizza I brought along so heated it in the fry pan...worked okay..
by that time it was dark so time to go to bed...
