July 9th
We got the van packed before
the big rain came. It was only a quick shower, got an 1” in 20 minutes… since
we had hurried to do that we were ready to leave at 8:30.
It was different coming on
the 2 days ahead of Steve’s days off… but there were already 2 guys going to be
gone the 14th and 15th so I suggested we do that instead…
doesn’t really matter to us if it is on a weekend or not. But I think our ‘clocks’ will be off!
It was overcast but we were
behind the rain so that was good…I don’t like driving in heavy rain.

We made our stops in Foley
and Mora. I wanted Steve to look at the chairs I had seen there when Jean and I
stopped.
They are the style of recliner
that he is interested in and he did think they were high quality. That place
does have nice furniture! We need to
check on prices of them...not sure if they are a deal or not.
It was raining some when we
got to Hinckley so after we ate I decided Murphy didn’t need to get out to
potty. He could last another 2 hrs. until we get to Port Wing.
The wild flowers were just
beautiful in our yard. With the wildflowers it didn't make the tall grass seem
so bad.
Steve made
the comment that “and you want to cut all my pretty flowers”! It is a sad thought but if we don’t pretty
soon they would be crowded out by weeds and brush.
We had left
the awning up when we left last month and it was nice to unload with the little
rain shower that was going on. I sure
hope we don’t have another stay up here with cloudy rainy weather.
I wanted to
go down and get the sd card from the wildlife camera and asked steve if he
would go along. He said he needed to
rest a bit. So I waited awhile and
decided to just go. I got out the walkie
talkies and handed him one and said that I would just go. He said no he was ready so we went down
there. Instead of turning around and
going back the way we came we continued on the trail. I had gone that way only with Beth so it was
hard finding our way. Steve took charge
and followed murphy and we finally got on the right track. I think it needs some grooming.
I was
excited to see what was on the camera .. but only 5 pictures from when we were
here 3 wks ago. Nothing out of the dens
it was aimed at ..they must be abandoned.
But a nice young buck was coming by a couple days in a row. I was
dissapointed there weren’t any bears in the shots. I thought maybe there was one in the
background where a crow had triggered the camera but it was just a branch..
Steve laughed at me!
Since Patty
would be working wed-Friday this week I told
Steve we should stop over there and see them for a bit… I had the socks

We got over
there and Carl was weeding by the barn.. that guy always has to be busy. He
said patty was napping. They had made Strawberry Jam that afternoon. We went in and she was up.
The
strawberries were just coming in now ..which is late.. same in Hutch.
Carl seemed
pleased with his socks…I hope he likes them.
We got home
and I ate some of the left over chicken I had brought along. Steve was still full from our meal at
Cassidy’s.
It is
strange not having a TV to turn on … just starring at each other I suggested we
play cards.. of courses Steve wasn’t thrilled but conseded and suggested “high
Card”…it is a simple game and can drag on for quite awhile.. it was fun made us
laugh. So much better than starring at a
tv screen!
