July 12th
Our street is getting redone with new sewer and water, bike/walking path, so not being able to park in the driveway during the day we packed the car the night before. Since we were all packed we decided we might as well leave...so we left at 7:15.
Traffic was light which surprised me.
We stopped in Mora at the Unclaimed Freight..I found some Kabob baskets like the ones I gave Beth for Christmas...they worked great and I thought I needed some of my own. I also picked up some dishcloths for the trailer.. 2 for a $1.. I bought dishtowels there a year ago and they have held up great having washed probably 12 times... can't beat the price!
We got to Cassidy's in Hinckley in time for their Breakfast specials..I had a Taco Omelet..it was good.. I ate 1/2 and got a doggy bag for the rest.
I went to let Murphy out while Steve paid the check... a couple came out and the lady had to say hello to Murphy ...he ate it up!
I made sure I stayed awake so Steve didn't miss the road over to Superior...it was a good thing too because he was not slowing up when we came to the Hwy 4 sign ..I told him to turn and he said he was looking for Hwy C and that is on the Wisconsin side.
I did snooze once we got on Hwy 13 which is the road to Port Wing...and the next thing I knew we were at the Ballfield just a mile from our place!
It was 1:15PM.. the trailer was really HOT ...Steve got everything brought in and we got the electrical plugged in and the air going...sure felt good!!
I decided to go pick some Queen Anne's Lace.. got a bunch but the grass in the front is so long it just ticked me off so I stopped. We NEED to have it cut more than once a year..
Steve went to get the mower and was gone a really long time so I went to see what was going on..I heard some choice words coming from him...this was not a good sign.
He had started it in the shed and drove it out ..because of the safety shut off in the seat it shut off when he got off to close the door and it wouldn't start again.
I asked if he brought his voltage meter and he hadn't. I started walking back and Beth was driving up..I asked her if .she had her meter in the car and she did (doesn't every girl?)..so she went and they tested the battery ..it was drained to 10volts (I think it should be 12 from what I gathered) Steve figured it was the starter..Beth told us of a guy right on our road that fixes lawn mowers so Steve pulled the starter and we would go see him tomorrow. So hoping it can be fixed so I can mow our yard around the trailer.
We came in and were having some snacks and here came Rocky on an on/off road bike he had just bought...he was so excited ...he got it at a good price but it does need some work but he is sure he can fix it... he stayed for awhile but was itching to get on the trails with it so he left..
Beth left soon after I got so cold and asked Steve to turn off the air...he said it was only 77 and that I should put on some more clothes...I told him I didn't care what the temperature said it was too cold and I went outside to warm up...when I came in he had shut off the air and gone to bed... the windows were open but there was no breeze so during the night the trailer did warm up again..so I guess he was right we should have kept the air on... maybe just turned it down.
