Time fly's even when you don't throw the clock
>>> it has been a year and I haven't posted on my blog...life was pretty hectic...through all the ups and downs...i will continue on to catch everyone up...
We
have been here now almost a month… we have all of the contractors hired…the
last one is for the foundation…and Steve is very confident in the last guy he
talked too… he has been recommended by 3 or 4 of building contractors that Beth works with..plus the plumber recommended him also…Steve talked to him and he
thought he was good…which is amazing
because he doubts everyone’s competence!
Every
where we turn there is a new permit to pay… when will it end…you think the only
expense in building is the actual house …oh how naive I was.. but really…we pay the
county zoning for a permit…then there is the permit for the septic holding
tank, then the state zoning…the well, it goes on and on… when will it end?
We
went and opened a checking account at the Chippewa Valley Bank in Iron
River…Beth banks there and liked how it was so convenient with having so many
branches…but still being a small town bank with everyone knowing her name when
she goes in…love that!
We
got our SS addresses changed… now to get the car licenses and our drivers
licenses changed… that will take a trip to Superior or “going up town” as the
locals say.
Last
Sunday I made the trip to Duluth for the Franciscan Fraternity meeting… the
first time with the new group. I don’t
know why I was so nervous about joining them… as Secular Franciscans ..St Francis spirit was there!
I
was debating on going with severe thunderstorms forecasted…but I headed out and
set the garmin to lead me there… love that garmin… it wasn’t that difficult but as I got over the Blatnik Bridge it was so nice to be told which lane to be
in and which way to go on 35 … it was a down pour and fog when I got to Superior... good old garmin let me right to it... With
the busy summer it won’t be until Fall that I will be able to attend another
meeting.
The
rain finally stopped and we have had a long stretch of sunshine…we got the
brush pile burned…still more to burn…I bought some Brauts at the store …they
were from Jim’s meat market in Iron River …he has the best meat we found out. I put them in a hot dog roasting basket and
in the bottom of the fire where the coals were glowing…didn’t take long and
they were done…I took out some frozen green beans I still had from Linda that I
picked while she was on vacation last summer…they were so good …real skinny ones…gotta
find out what kind they were…so I put them in the basket in some foil and
roasted them too…what a great supper!
I
have been having a fire in my patio fireplace in the mornings.. after all the
rain the sunshine has been so enjoyable!
I
did take out my violin and tuned it up … I broke my G string…but I did have
a gut one…and that worked…I don’t have
any music books but I played the scales… the first few times were shaky… but I
got better…my arm and neck got tired so I put it away…I told Steve I was going
to play the scales everyday to get my body in shape to play it… plus maybe some
memory will return on playing a song… I think my books are in the storage
locker so will dig them out when I get back to Hutch in the next week or so.
I
did some spinning…it was designer yarn using odds and ends of what I had in the
couple bags I had up here… I really miss my Louet spinning wheel, the large bobbins and the lazy kate right attached to it sure makes spinning convenient...I am thinking i will see the Ashford..
Our anniversary was Friday the 15th...Steve actually remembered and i didn't! We decided on going to the Delta Diner in Delta...it is about 10 miles further S of Iron River.
It was wonderful! we were greeted at the door and seated in a booth...the menu was posted above the lunch counter...Steve didn't like that...but the waitress came and explained the menu... we got the specialty ..PBLT...Perch Bacon Lettuce and tomato... it was delicious...I had a milk shake...chocolate-Carmel... there was enough for us to share and it was so filling!
Carl
came and moved the trailer to up by the driveway.. having it in front of the
building activity …once the house is built it would have been a pain to get it
out from the back. Steve mowed and put
out flags where he wanted Carl to drag it too… one try and it was set…almost
perfectly level too…
