It didn’t get that cold during the night …was around 30 when I got up.
Surprisingly I wasn’t that sore from all the tree trimming yesterday.
The cell phone didn’t have reception this morning so around 7:30 I walked to the van to check for messages …I was thankful for the snowshoes… but the snow pack outside the door was slick …I used the prongs on the bottom of the snowshoes to rough it up a bit.

I had no messages but texted Mary to let her know how things were going,  and she was available and text back..

It was too early to call Beth to see what time would work for us to come over with all her things.
So I walked back to the trailer.
My one snowshoe had gotten loose in the back and I took a look at it and found that a nut had come off the screw on one side holding the strap tight.   I had found a shiny little washer on the snow while trimming trees the day before and thought at that time it was something Steve had dropped  … but now I know it was from my snowshoe.  I kept an eye out on the way back and caught sight of a something shiny stuck in the snow…I used the ski pole to work it out and sure enough it was the nut, now what are the chances of that happening!!!
I brought them in and got it put back on.  Steve agrees that he does need to get some snowshoes for up here.
Around 9 we decided to start out for Beth’s…. the trip to the car with the snowshoes was getting more difficult with the snow getting slushier.
I got service and called her from hwy 13… she said to come any time so we went on over.
Steve brought in the chandelier and I he asked which other boxes  were hers….I went out and pointed out the ones that were hers,  he didn't realize that all of them were hers except for one.
She opened the chandelier  box and looked at  the globe… she had forgotten what it looked like…it had been around  15yrs since it was at Mom’s house.  She has to rewire it and then she showed me in the house plans where it will go.. it is up in the loft office area.   She will work under it just like her Grandfather did.
We went out and looked at the lumber for their house that had just been delivered from Menards.  They had a huge tarp over it.  So as soon as the ground thaws they can start..
She had to work at the VI at 11 …so we made plans to meet for dinner at the Port Bar at 7. Rocky even agreed to come.
On the way home we took a drive by the Marina..not much activity there…. Stopped at the store,  Judy was working..it was busy there so didn’t get to visit too much.
On the walk back to the trailer we stopped at the one apple tree that I wanted a larger limb removed…it had bug holes in it…so Steve started cutting it off… It took a bit of muscle  because the saw got stuck half way through because of the weight of the tree…I tried to pull it apart….I did good enough for him to finish it.  Continuing on to the trailer was really difficult with the snowshoes….I think walking without them would be best.
I went out and dumped the dish pan in the ravine…. Took my time….it was slow going  with the knee deep snow!
When we got back we both sat and read our books…I couldn’t warm up so I crawled in bed to read.
With the mattress pad warmed my body  but my hands just wouldn’t warm up so I decided to put the book down and put them under the covers  and took a nap.   Steve joined me….it was a good day being overcast to read and nap.   I got up and fixed some tea and read ….my hands got  cold again so I put on the fingerless gloves I had just made for Cassie.. I think I will have to make myself a pair.
Murphy had to go out and he was having a difficult time in the snow and just couldn’t find that perfect spot…I had to take a video of him.. I bet he is wondering what the heck is going on!

I had mentioned to Steve that my bathroom bucket was getting a bit full…I used the 3.5gal bucket which worked perfect sitting in the tub ...so he brought it out and dumped it…. It had a lid which was good…. This experience has brought back the realization of how people lived years ago…makes me more thankful for all the conveniences we have.
We left around 6:40  to go to the Port Bar for supper.. Steve said it would only take us 5 mins to get to the Van… I put on my snowpants I didn’t want to sit in wet jeans at the restaurant.
It was slow going…and really hard… I fell once …. Retracing steps isn’t that much fun.
We got to the bar and the cell phone rang..it was Beth, they were running late and would be there in 15mins… I took off the snowpants and we went inside.
One table in the dining room had a group of people and they were just finishing up.
The waitress asked if we were Beth’s parents and said Beth had called to say they would be late….I told her she did get  a hold of us…
She brought our drinks and asked if I was still running….she said she was friends with Beth and they had worked together at the VI last week….Beth had told me about that… we talked about running…I told her I would be running the sack slapper 5k that is during the Testicle Festival the
Port Bar puts on in June.
She just got back from Balise and how wonderful it was to just put on her shoes and go out running….
Beth and Rocky got there…it took awhile to get the Sauna going…. She had a pretty royal blue lacy top on that Dee had gotten her..
.I had planned to order fish instead of having pizza because it was Friday and Lent….Steve doesn’t get the not eating meat deal but it is a fish catching town so it wouldn’t be that unusual for me to have that instead of Pizza…. But everyone decided on the fish  …Steve and I had whitefish and Beth and Rocky had the trout.
I took pictures of the fireplace there …it is made from petrified wood from North Dakota…really is pretty.

Beth asked if we had a flashlight for the walk back to the trailer….she had one in the car we could borrow but I remembered I had put one in the glove box.   We left around 9… I didn’t put on my snow pants for the walk back….but was happy to have the flashlight…that walk is getting harder and harder…tomorrow we head to Duluth to stay with Lynn for a couple days….

This certainly has been an adventure…one I’m not sure we really needed.  The thoughts of “we’re too old for this”  kept popping into my head…are we?
We got back and the place was toasty warm.   Steve went to bed and I sat up and read for awhile.
