It worked out with Steve's sister Pat's job so she could join us this weekend. She told us that if one of our friends could come
instead that it was okay she would just wait for another time….I told her we
wanted her to come. She is just so sweet
and unconsumed. I don’t think she
realizes how special she is to us!
The Van packing was going
really well, Steve was sure we were missing something it was still so
empty. I got the dry food box finished
and then the cooler… it was filling up.
Steve asked if we should switch the back seats, putting in the one on his side so Pat wouldn’t be riding with the sun on her… I
thought it was a good idea because I would be able to visit with her better that way...with the windows tinted the sun isn’t that uncomfortable and
Murphy would be fine too in the other location.
Beth had purchased a new
crate for Josey before she went back with her, but when she unpacked it she found the wire was as thin as a coat
hanger… so I told her to borrow ours and I would exchange it and get one for her at Runnings. Murphy
would be initiating the new one.. I got it put together and it was a
little larger than Murphy’s…but really good quality and $10 cheaper than the
other one!
Pat got to our house at 8:45…
she had a few more things for the Van, and we were off at 9:07a.
The sun was out and the weather man has predicted a nice weekend!
We stopped in Foley then Mora at
the unclaimed freight… Steve and Pat got 2014 Calendars for $1… very pretty
ones too..Sunsets, waterfalls…birds, puppies!
We ate at Cassidy’s.. all of
us had the salad bar.
Steve made it driving all the
way to Hwy 4 .. the crossover to Superior, and then I drove the rest of the way to
Port Wing.
Another load of gravel was
put on the drive way.. I guess it was a good thing…I wouldn’t have bothered but
I guess Steve knows more about that stuff than me.
I opened the door to the
trailer and the flies were all around the door frame…YUCK!! I started shooing them away and got inside
without too many following me… there weren’t too many inside…but fall is coming
for sure.. at least I found those fly strips for the windows that work good…I
put them up high so we don’t have to have them in eye few, full of flies…so
appetizing!
We got unpacked and then Pat and I went to check out the apples… checked about 6 trees… just the ones on the flat
land…we found maybe one was suitable to pick…the rest needed more time to sweeten. Darn.. that means we have to wait until next
month and who knows how many will be left…there is already evidence of the
bears and deer helping themselves..
I dragged out the lawn chairs
from underneath the trailer and told everyone to come outside and sit in the
sun… we ended up dragging the chairs around to keep in the sun…Beth and Josie
got here…I was so excited to see her… what an energetic pup! She is just like the energizer bunny! Beth said she normally runs for awhile and
then takes a nap…but she sure wasn’t napping..Murphy had to put her in her
place a few times…she did learn not to go after him so aggressively to play but
she did follow him around …what a sweet natured dog.. Just like a sweet innocent child that has
been so loved doesn't realize there are people out there that won't think they are so adorable.. hasn’t hit the cruel world yet!
It was so cute to see how
Josie had learned to come when called…she would turn and come racing back her ears
a flapping and a smile on her face!
She has also learned to
retrieve…Beth brought the floppy disc and it was hilarious seeing Josey picking
it up and tripping over it as she brought it back…her little legs aren’t long enough to carry it…she
would finally grab it in the middle and come prancing back with it.
I was worried it was too
windy for a fire but at 6 it died down and Beth started a fire. We moved the chairs close to the fire to warm
up! I went in and warmed up the Sloppy Joes Pat brought… they sure looked good… I brought the sauerkraut I made and
thought it would be good on top of them..not everyone thought so
though.. Beth and Josey left for home …she wasn’t that hungry… Steve wasn’t
either so it was just Pat and me that ate.. We
ate outside by the fire.. all of a sudden the coyotes started talking
back and forth…it was pretty Erie!!
I went inside to clean up the
kitchen and Steve and Pat came in…Steve went to bed and Pat and I played
Chicken feet!
We turned in at 10pm…
